Surf’s up

Nothing on the schedule today except for taking Paula to the airport tonight. We started the morning with Karen and I dropping Paula off at church in Lahaina while we hit a couple of stores.

Christmas Tree

After mass, we picked her up and headed over to the Lahaina Cannery Mall. Our primary mission was to go to Safeway and pick up the last of the items needed for Christmas dinner. All I can say is just like at home, a grocery store a few days before Christmas is a zoo. At one point, the cash registers went down and were only accepting cash. Lucky for us that happened just after we checked out.

Yup .. that is the correct price
Might be cheaper to drink alcohol instead

We had lunch back at the condo and then spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing. It was cloudy and really windy which was great for the surfers.

Since we had to go to Kahului we thought why not leave a little earlier and go check out the Hookipa Beach Park. This is where people go to surf. Because of the wind, the waves were huge and there were only a handful of brave souls in the water.

We headed back to Paia and had dinner at Flatbread Company. They make awesome flatbread pizzas and pretty good desserts too. By now, it was time to drop Paula off at the airport. After saying goodbye, we made a quick stop at Walmart (not the smartest thing to do before Christmas) before heading back to the condo and calling it a night.
