Errands and such

Each night, I have left the lanai doors open so that I can fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the crashing waves.  I think I may have to buy some type of sound machine when I get back home.  I wanted to run a bunch of errands in Kahului in preparation for the arrival of the Maloney’s on Saturday.  I was up and out the door by 8:00am.  While driving, Allison texted me to see if I wanted to join her, Darren and Cille for breakfast at Sunrise Cafe.  Since I had not gotten to Lahaina yet, I said I would meet them.  I was lucky enough to find a parking spot right on Front Street.  Sunrise Cafe is a little hole in the wall place that is set back from Front Street.  It took me a few minutes to find it.  This is a true locals place.  How do I know that … At the next table were a couple of police officers.  We had a nice leisurely breakfast and soon it was time for me to go.

When I got to Kahului, I stopped at Wal-Mart, Target and Costco and picked up various grocery items.  It really pays to do comparison shopping especially on Maui.  Prices vary greatly between the grocery stores and the big box stores.  I also went back to the two thrift stores, Savers and Goodwill, and managed to find another beach umbrella.  By now it was lunch time, so I headed over to Ba-Le Sandwiches & Bakery at the Maui Marketplace to pick up their Teriyaki Beef Sandwich.

Once I got back to the condo, I headed down to the pool.  I can not believe that after nearly a week, this was the first time I was at the pool.  While relaxing and napping, I got a text from Allison inviting me over for dinner.  But before dinner, she said that they were going to go to the Lahaina Cannery Mall so that the girls could try out the free weekly Hula lesson.  The lesson did not go as planned since the girls were just too shy.  We left the mall and headed back to their house for a fabulous chicken dinner.

After dinner, I went down to Front Street so that I could do some more shopping.  I was able to pick up a few more things before heading over to the Maui Theatre to catch the second half of “Burn N’ Love”.  The show was once again awesome and the crowd was really into it. The night ended with me driving Darren home and enjoying some banana cream pie.
