Bon Jovi … round #3 … “Attention Please, Attention Please”

I hear a noise that sounds like a clock radio. I try to shut it off and then realize that it’s the fire alarm going off. It’s 7:30am. I needed to get up but not this early. They make an announcement indicating that an alarm has gone off on the 3rd floor. Guests and employees on floors 2, 3 and 4 need to evacuate. All others standby. We are on the 16th floor. I pack up my electronics and Karen says to make sure to grab the tickets for tonight’s show. After about 15 minutes of the alarm and announcements, we are given the all clear. What a way to start the day.

I get myself positioned in front of the laptop and when 10am rolled around, I started typing as fast as I can on the TicketMaster website. Unfortunately all the tickets that I was getting were for seats worse than I already have for the March 12th show. After about a 1/2 hour of trying, the TicketMaster website crashed. ARGH.

We went downstairs, had a mid morning snack at the Market Garden and then headed over to Roncesvalles Village. This is the Polish part of Toronto. There are lots of shops, restaurants and bakeries. Karen got some Christmas shopping done and I picked up lunch for us for the grand total of $1.47. We left Roncesvalles and then made our way over to Yorkville. We wanted to see if we could spot any famous people but none ever appeared.

We got back to the hotel and decided to visit the pool and hot tub on the 27th floor. As you are sitting in the hot tub, you have an awesome view of the CN Tower. We relaxed for about an hour and then headed to the Pickle Barrel for dinner. After dinner, we spent just a short amount of time wandering the Toronto Eaton Centre and got to the see the Swarovski Crystal Wish Tree. It was spectacular. All of the ornaments on this tree are made from Swarovski crystals. This tree sparkles and there aren’t even any lights on it. We hopped the subway and in about 2 minutes, we were at Union Station and made the quick walk to the Air Canada Centre. We got settled in our seats just at the start of Hedley’s set. After lots of text messages, we were able to find Darlene (girl from work) in the crowd.

Once again, Bon Jovi put on a fabulous show. What was great is that it was different from last night’s show. The core songs were still there but they threw in “Keep The Faith”, “I’d Die For You”, “In These Arms”, Richie sang “Stranger In This Town” a song from his solo album and just a little bit of Elvis’ “Can’t Help Falling In Love”. We were in the general area of where Jon would be singing on the platform in the crowd. At that part of the show, I went down and got somewhat close (not close enough) and was able to snap quite a few pictures before security moved us along.

Look how close Darlene is to Bon Jovi

After the show, we met up with Darlene and the girls she came down with to exchange reviews of the show. We all decided that it was awesome. We had a brief shopping excursion at HMV records before heading to bed for the night.

Next show … March 10, 2008.
