Big win, and little turtles

Guest blogger today … Karen.  Today started with a one hour massage on the beach.  Instead of listening to the recorded sound of waves … we actually listened to the real waves.  For only $30 USD each, Susie, Karen and Dorothy enjoyed a relaxing one hour massage from head to toe to fingers.  It was pure bliss.  We followed that up with a relaxing swim in the infinity pool.

Liz & Heather played El Salvador at 1:00 PM today, and beat them 21-10 and 21-8.  The girls played great.  We stayed to watch the Canadian men’s team beat Nicaragua at 3:00 PM.  I have never sweated so much in my life.  I can’t imagine how hot it must be on the court.

After volleyball Ross & Susie & Liz headed back to the condo for a swim, while we headed downtown with the Sewells (Ray, Graham, and Gillian).  We stopped for 2-for-1 margaritas at a bar, and met up there with the Saxtons (Mylene and Don).  We all made our way over to El Barracuda, where Graham treated us to a fabulous dinner, right on the ocean.

When Ross & Susie arrived, they told us that there were about 30-40 baby sea turtles back at the condo in a big bin, waiting to be released tonight around 7:00 PM.  After dinner all of us raced back to the condo, and got to hold the babies, and got our photos taken with them.

After the sun had set, and the birds were gone, they brought the baby sea turtles down to the ocean.  We all lined up in a line facing the ocean, rubbed our hands in sand (so that the turtle would know where they came from), and each got to release a baby sea turtle.  How absolutely unbelievable is that!  It was magical, and one of the top experiences ever.

After turtle time, we enjoyed another relaxing swim in the infinity pool, with our new houseguests, the Sewells.  I’m getting used to having multiple swims each day, and am really going to miss this when I get home.

The gang ended the day watching some Arrested Development on TV.  Liz & Heather play Brazil (#1 team in the world) in the quarter finals on Wednesday @ 2:00.  Who knows what magic tomorrow might bring!
