Positive thoughts and Tequila shots

We didn’t have to be at the stadium until 2:00pm so we decided to do some exploring in Old Town.  The taxis dropped us off right at the flea market where we did some shopping.

We did research and one restaurant that got great reviews was Cafe Roma and lucky for us it was right beside the flea market.  All I can say is that all of the reviews were right on the money.  From the time that we arrived to the moment that we left, we were treated like family.  Once the manager Juan Carlos found out that we were in Puerto Vallarta to watch Liz play beach volleyball, he was very excited for us.  He kept telling us that we had to have positive thoughts.  The food was great and the margaritas were fabulous.  Our lunch ended with free shots of Tequila.  That is the first time I’ve ever had a shot and all I can say is that I don’t think it’s something I can acquire a taste for.   We said goodbye to our new friends at Cafe Roma and grabbed a taxi to the stadium.

This was the quarterfinal match and the girls played Brazil, the number one ranked team.  The girls played really well but ended up losing to the Brazilians (21-15, 21-16).  Liz and Heather ended up finishing fifth at the 2011 Pan American Games.  We stayed to watch the Canadian men play Mexico.  That was a hard fought match but the Canadians ended up losing 28-26, 25-23.

After sitting in the blazing sun for a couple of hours, we decided that we needed a cooling off swim back at the condo.

We heard that there might be another turtle release tonight so we hung around the condo waiting.  As we were waiting, the skies got very black, the wind picked up and the rain began to fall.  No turtles tonight.

It was raining pretty hard so we decided to grab a couple of taxi and head over to the Chili’s which was basically next door to us at the Peninsula Plaza.  We enjoyed a lovely dinner and ended the night with a rousing game of “Settlers of Catan” on the balcony.
