Where’s Michael when you need him

After three solid long days of touring Italy, we were happy that we did not book anything for Toulon, France.  We knew that there was Cours Lafayette Marche which is an temporary outdoor market similar to St. Jacob’s Market that is held everyday from 8:00am to 12:30pm.  The vendors line the street selling anything you can think of … Fresh fruits and vegetables, meats and cheeses, spices and flowers.  There are non food vendors towards the end of the market selling all sorts of things like clothes, linens and lots of lavender.  Early on in our shopping, we picked up a couple of French pastries which we enjoyed for breakfast.  It was so nice walking around enjoying all the sights and smells of the market.  I do have a Grade 13 credit in French but we both had a hard time understanding how much money they were asking for.  Next time we are taking Karen’s nephew Michael since he knows his numbers in French.

It was now getting close to noon, so we decided to head back to the waterfront to grab some lunch.  The primary criteria was that the restaurant had shade and free WiFi.  We found place where  we had a lovely meal and also got the blog posted.  The funny part was that Karen’s glass of wine was less money that the bottle of water I had.  I think I need to start drinking wine.

Karen saw on the map that there was a shopping mall close by.  When we walked in, it felt just like at home except we did not know any of the names of the stores.  It was so weird walking around the mall when for the past two weeks our shopping has been done in little shops and boutiques.  We left the mall and headed over to the pedestrian district to explore the area.  Sorry there is no history and no statues for today.

We walked back to the ship in the blazing sun and were greeted with the ice cold towels.  At every port, the crew are standing with water or juice and ice cold facecloths.  They are the best way to cool down.  I am so going to miss that.  We made it to Name That Tune which today was one hit wonders.  Karen and I got seventeen out of twenty.  All you had to provide was the song title, not even the artist.  I am sure that Karen and I would have smoked them.  We missed “What’s Up?” By Four Non Blondes, “Mary’s Prayer” and I don’t remember who the artist was and “Tubthumping” by Chumbwabe.

For our last dinner on the ship, we used our final free speciality restaurant option by going to Cagney’s Steakhouse.  Karen and I each had the Mexican Ceasar Salad and 5oz filet mignon.  Karen went with the baked potatoe while I went with the garlic mashed potatoes and coleslaw.  Dessert was Oreo cheesecake for Karen and Macadamia Nut ice cream sandwich for me.

We grabbed our stuff after dinner and headed to The Galaxy of the Stars to relax.

Love Chumbawamba, too bad I wasn’t on your team, I would have gotten you one more point. 🙂
