Two girls went to Nantucket

We wanted to do something a little different today so we decided to visit the island of Nantucket which is fifty kilometers south of Cape Cod.  There are a few different cruise lines that will take you there but we decided to use Hy-Line Cruises.  They have a high speed ferry which will get you there in half the time as opposed to the traditional ferry.

We took the 9:10am ferry which got us to Nantucket at 10:10am.  We quickly disembarked and began our exploration of Nantucket.  We first walked around the wharf area to check out the many large yachts that were parked there.  There was one, Vivere, which we saw leave.  This 116 feet yacht can be chartered for $52000 / week plus expenses.  It accomodates ten guests with a crew of five.  Ah to be rich.

The number one restaurant on Nantucket according to TripAdvisor is Something Natural.  It is located away from the downtown area, about a twenty minute walk.  We decided to make the trek there.  You knew the place had to be good based on the number of cars we saw in the parking lot.  We each had a half sandwich along with a chocolate chip cookie which we enjoyed on the grounds of the restaurant.

We spent the rest of our time on Nantucket checking out more of the downtown area.  Many of the streets are made of cobblestone and all of the homes in the area are well taken care of.  Next time I would like to explore more of the island than just what we saw.  We took the 4:10pm ferry back to Hyannis, sitting outside enjoying the summer breeze.

Spanky’s Clam Shack and Seaside Saloon is located at Hyannis Harbor and that’s where we decided to have dinner.  Lobster was once again on the menu … Lobster Ceasar Salad and Lobster Roll.  With all of the walking we did today in the heat, we decided to just head back to the house after dinner.
