Hanging with the locals

I love not having to get up and go to work.  I think I am almost caught up on my sleep now.  Once we finally got moving, we decided to go back to the Outer Cape to check out the Wellfleet Flea Market.  It is held at the only drive-in on Cape Cod.  Most of the vendors were selling stuff you would find at garage sales but there were some selling new merchandise like t-shirts and caps.  But the best part is that he drive-in snack bar is open and therefore you can get yourself a big bucket of popcorn with pour your own butter.  Yummy!!!

It was lunch time by now so we decided to check out another TripAdvisor recommendation called Moby Dick’s in Wellfleet.  We always try and have as much seafood as possible when near the ocean.  Today’s lunch included fish ‘n’ chips and a scallop sandwich.  We took the scenic way back to Hyannis which included a stop at Cuffy’s and Christmas Tree Shops in Orleans.

Karen’s research found us a photography tour through the Cape Cod Art Association.  We took the Hidden Harbors Photo Tour ($38 USD / person) with John Tunney along with seven other people. We met at 5:30pm and got everyone situated into a car and began the tour.  We only went to three locations (Hallets Mill Pond, Bone Hill Road and Scudders Lane) but each one gave us a different perspective of Barnstable.  John was good about helping people out with camera settings and giving ideas on what picture to take.

One of the benefits of carpooling on the photo tour is that we were able to get restaurant recommendations from the locals.  Debbie (our driver) said that Mattakeese Wharf Restaurant was good and it was close by at Barnstable Harbor.  It was really nice to end our day sitting  right on the water enjoying our fresh seafood dinner.
