Travel day

Today we had to say goodbye to our floating home the Emerald Sun.  But we are not going home yet.  We actually have a three day extension in Prague, Czech Republic.  We had to be out of our cabins by 8:30am even though we were not getting picked up until 10:00am.  So we hung out in the Horizons Lounge until we heard the announcement to head outside.

our bags getting ready for the bus ride

Once all thirty-seven of us got settled on the bus, Pavlina introduced herself as our Prague guide.  She would be taking care of us for the next three days.  She explained that the bus ride would be about three hours and that we would be making a couple of stops.  The ride seemed to go by pretty quickly and shortly after 2:00pm we arrived.

We are staying at the Majestic Plaza Hotel Prague which is only a few blocks from lots of shopping and restaurants.  After handing out the room keys, Pavlina asked if we could meet back in the lobby bar at 3:00pm for a welcome drink and a vicinity walk.  We went upstairs for a little rest and to wait for our bags.

We got our warm clothes on and headed back to the lobby for a little walk about.  Pavlina took us down to Wenceslas Square.  Along the way, she would point out places of interest like restaurants, best place to get money exchanged, where to get snacks, etc.  The walk was only about twenty minutes in length and then we were free to go.

getting a lay of the land

Before she left, we asked her for some more restaurant recommendations and she told us about a great Italian restaurant called La Piccola Perla which was only about two minutes away.  So Karen, Nana and I headed over there.  It is a family run hole in the wall kind of place and the food was fabulous.

After stuffing ourselves, we walked back to the hotel through the Wenceslas Square Christmas Market.  We did a little bit of shopping along the way in some of stores before arriving back and calling it a night.
