Sunday equals lazy day

Crashing waves … that is the sound that I fell asleep to last night.  I did manage to get a decent night’s sleep.  The only plans we had for today was to meet Darren, Allison and the girls for breakfast and then go to the Maui Gift & Craft Fair.  We met them at Sunrise Cafe, a little hole in the wall restaurant frequented by locals.  It has been quite a while since we have seen Allison and the girls.  Shayla and Sienna are getting so big and they are very funny.  Breakfast was awesome and every one left stuffed.

How did you get that parking spot?

It was a quick five minute drive to the Lahaina Gateway where the Maui Gift & Craft Fair is held every Sunday in the parking lot.  Many of the vendors that we saw yesterday were there.  I think Karen and I each ended up buying something.  After walking around in the hot sun, we invited Darren, Allison and the girls over to the condo.  We told them over breakfast that there are turtles and the girls were very excited at the thought of seeing them.

Ready to shop

Once they arrived, we took everyone down to the beach to see the turtles.  None of them had seen turtles that close up before.  There had to be at least ten of them.  We left the turtles and then headed to the pool for an afternoon of hanging out.  It has been a long time since I had an afternoon of nothing.

It was getting close to dinner time, so we invited them to stay.  Nothing fancy … BBQ hotdogs, salad, banana cream pie and Roselani Haupia ice cream which we enjoyed on the lanai.  We finished dinner just as the sun was beginning to set so we headed back to the beach to enjoy it with the turtles.  By now it was time for Darren, Allison and the girls to head home.  We said our goodbyes and promised that the girls could come back.  The night ended with a bit of shopping at Whaler’s Village before another late night with Darren.
