We were trying to find out what the weather would be today and they said there was going to be thundershowers in the afternoon. Therefore we decided we would go to an outlet mall in Rehoboth Beach in Delaware (one of the few states with NO tax). The quickest way there is on the Cape May – Lewes Ferry. We got to the ferry terminal at 12:30, and they said the next ferry was leaving at 3:30pm. That wouldn’t give us enough time for shopping. We had to come up with a Plan B.
We decided to head over to Cape May but first we stopped at Sunset Beach. There’s not much swimming there but lots of people fishing. We picked up a couple of burgers from the Sunset Beach Grill and had a lovely lunch on the beach, and checked out the two stores there.
We got back in the car and headed to the Washington Street Mall in Cape May. It’s a pedestrian mall that has lots of great little shops. The surrounding area has lots of colorful old Victorian homes.
We needed dinner so we went to the boardwalk in Wildwood and had a slice of pie (aka pizza) from Sam’s Pizza Palace. The boardwalk reminds me of the CNE. Wildwood is the busiest area on the Jersey Shores, with plenty to do, and lots of people. The hike to the beach from the boardwalk has to be at least a 1/2 mile over the sand. I have never seen such a wide beach.
We got back to the site and enjoyed a lovely campfire, before retiring to the tent to watch some TV.
Hey Dorothy,
I need more pictures of your camping set up. I had a tough time imagining you boogy boarding but … I still don’t believe you are living in a tent.
