It’s our last day of the cruise and the port of call today is Great Stirrup Cay. It’s NCL’s private island in the Bahamas. Since the ship can’t dock at the island, we need to take tenders (boats that can transport about 400 people). After enjoying a breakfast buffet, We got over to the island around 11:15am and proceeded to find our spot. We rented a cabana and it was used more for blocking us from the wind than from the sun.
We dropped our stuff and headed right for the water, which was that stunning turquoise colour. Let’s just say that it was refreshing. We did walk out a little ways and with the water being so crystal clear, we were able to see quite a few fishes. We even saw a stingray a couple of feet from the shore, but lucky for us we were out of the water at that time.
Between reading, relaxing and just enjoying the view, there was also some eating. Lunch consisted of bbq hamburgers and hotdogs, pizza, chicken, potatoe salad and bean salad. For dessert there was lots of fresh fruit and banana bread.
Around 5:00pm, we got on the tender and made our way back to the ship. The trip was very exciting because we got to see dolphins swimming by. We got back and headed to our balcony to see Great Stirrup Cay fade into the distance.
We enjoyed our last dinner in the Summer Palace Main Restaurant. Karen and I each had the ceasar salad and the steak. For dessert, Karen enjoyed the sampling of cheeses while I went with the cinnamon apple pie with vanilla ice cream.
Before heading out to the 9:30pm show in the Stardust Theatre (Lynn Trefzger the ventriloquist, and Oh What A Night!, the tribute to the Four Seasons), we sat around and relaxed in our robes. After the show, we still have the task I hate the most, packing up.
