Greetings from the Atlantic Ocean

What a way to start the day.  First there were birthday cards and a present (thank-you Dorothy!).  Followed by room service for breakfast, on the balcony, watching the waves.  Life doesn’t get any better.  We’re somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean today, on our way to Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas.  I like the ocean.  I could easily cruise all the way over to Europe.

After a leisurely breakfast we headed to the 13th floor sundeck for some rest and relaxation.  From the sundeck there is a 360 degree view of the ocean as far as you can see.  After soaking up some sun, we headed to the Great Outdoors cafe at the back of the ship on deck 12 for some lunch from the buffet.  It was a beautiful sunny day, and we had a great view from our ocean-side table.

On days at sea there is a jam-packed agenda of things going on all day long.  We decided to take in the Towel Folding Demonstration.  It was such fun.  So next time you stay overnight at my house, don’t be surprised if you find a towel animal on your bed!  We spent the afternoon relaxing on the sundeck.  It was so peaceful, and a great way to spend my birthday.

Dinner tonight was at La Cucina, the specialty Italian restaurant.  We had a table at the window, just after the sun set.  It’s a very nice restaurant with beautiful decor.  The food was delicious.  It started with an assortment of breads with oil & vinegar, plus a plate of antipasta.  Dorothy had the Ceasar salad and Chicken Parmesan.  I had the tomato and mozzarella, and Spaghetti Carbonara.  Both were great.  Dessert was a surprise birthday cake, delivered by the singing staff.  Nice surprise from Dorothy, and great cake too.

After dinner we headed to the 7:30 show at the Stardust Theater called “That’s Entertainment” which featured everyone from Sinatra to Elvis.  After that we headed to the 8:30 show at the Spinnaker Lounge with comedian David Naster called  “Bullying – Zen and the Art of the Comeback”.  After that we headed to the Pearl Club Casino where I hoped to win $1,000 but no such luck!

The evening ended with NCL’s Chocoholic Buffet.  Can you believe it … a chocolate buffet on my birthday!!!
