More whales please

The whale season started just this past Monday so we are trying to take advantage by going on as many whale watching tours as we can. Today we had booked the three hour tour with Ultimate Whale Watch.

Lahaina Harbor

Our captain was Tiffany who we had earlier in the week and the naturalist was Rhianna. The extra hour that the three hour tour gives you is the ability to go farther out which increases your chances of seeing whales. Rhianna explained that whales live ninety percent of their lives under water so when we do see them above the surface, it is a gift. As in past trips, we were lucky enough to see the whales. We saw lots of tails but no breaches. We have one more tour booked on Monday but I think we may need to go on one more.

After the tour, we decided to pick up lunch from Leoda’s Kitchen and Pie Shop which we enjoyed back at the condo. The afternoon was spent in many different ways. Karen, Ross and Susie were finally able to do their Afternoon Adventure Sail with Scotch Mist Sailing Charters. They even saw a mama and her calf.

Paula and Linda spent the afternoon by the pool until it got too windy. Steve went out and got a tattoo. I spent the afternoon hanging out at the condo.

For dinner, Karen, Paula and I went down to the Hoopilani Food Truck Park that is in front of the Ka’anapali Beach Club. There are about eight trucks there with everything from teppanyaki to Thai to fresh fish. As we were waiting for our food, it started raining so we headed for the car to eat.

The night saw us head down to Front Street to do some more shopping before calling it a night. Another early day tomorrow.
