Last day of civilization

Karen and I were itching to get away but didn’t want to spend a lot of money.  Usually that means a driving vacation.  I did a bit of research and discovered that New Jersey has beautiful beaches.  And since it was only approximately 10 hours away, we decided that would be our destination.  We tried finding a hotel near the Jersey Shores but everything we found was much more money than we wanted to spend.  We came up with a solution … camping.   You can stop laughing now.

We left home around 9:30am and once we got to the Peace Bridge, we realized there was a long line of cars waiting to cross.  We reminded ourselves that this would be the last time that we would have to wait in line.  We’ve applied for Nexus passes and are going for our interviews in a couple of weeks, and then we’ll be able to speed past those long lines.  After a 1/2 hour wait, we finally got across and stopped at Cracker Barrel to pick up lunch.

The five hour drive seemed to go by quickly and then we arrived at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets in Central Valley, New York.  There was one big reason to shop here … Brighton Collectibles.  We only had approximately 2-1/2 hours but we did manage to purchase a few things.  Our last night of civilization is at the Fairfield Inn ($98.10 USD) in Spring Valley, New York.  What’s great about this hotel is that it’s right next door to a Christmas Tree Shops.
