Labour day travels

Our destination for today was Tobermory. And since we had no real plans, we just played it by ear. Before leaving the area, we headed over to the Central North Correctional Centre in Penetanguishene and to Martyrs’ Shrine in Midland. Unfortunately the shrine and the grounds were closed due to Covid.

We left Midland heading for Tobermory. It was a nice drive but we needed some lunch so we stopped in at Blue Mountain Village. It reminded me a lot of Whistler. I was very surprised at how many people were here even though it was raining. We walked around a bit and decided to pick up pizza from The FireHall Pizza Co. before getting back on the road.

Since Wiarton is on the way to Tobermory, we stopped in to see Steve and Linda. It was nice to visit with them along with their dogs Ashby, Levi and Kona. It was only a forty-five minute drive to Tobermory. We arrived at Bruce Anchor Motel and Cottage Rentals and got directions to our cottage. It was a bit confusing but eventually we found Holly’s Cottage ($811.34 CAD including taxes), our rental for the next two days. We ended up picking fish and chips from Shipwreck Lee’s. After dinner, we unpacked and settled in for the evening.
