Just like that, plans change

My body is adjusting to the time change since I was able to get a few more hours of sleep last night.  While enjoying our breakfast on the lanai, we received a call from Ultimate Whale Watch.  Our 1:30pm trip was cancelled due to the weather.  Based on the waves that we were seeing in front of the condo, I can see why they were not going out.  It was now time to come up with a new plan for the day.

A rainbow to start the day

There were a couple of stores that we wanted to check out in Central Maui.  First stop was Coco Nene.  All products that they sell are made in Hawaii.  Their flagship store on was Front Street in Lahaina but they just opened up in the Maui Harbor Shops.

Our final stop was the factory of Kula Herb Excellent Soap.  We saw their soap in a store last night and when we checked their website, we saw that they had much more.  I reached out to them and asked what other stores carried their products.  They suggested to come by and factory and shop there.  When we arrived, we were greeted by Jenny who provided us with an order form.  Using said form and their website, we were able to figure out what we wanted to buy.  We went back inside and Lynne took care of filling our order.  While we were waiting, we had a nice chat with Jenny who explained that Jenny’s husband and Lynne are the makers of all of the products.  A true Made in Maui company.

It was time to head back but on our way, we picked up lunch from Leoda’s Kitchen and Pie Shop.  Because of the damage to their main kitchen and bakery site in Lahaina, they had to find new ways to continue producing their baked goods.  And therefore they just reopened on December 7 after teaming up with other local companies.  We got ourselves a BLT sandwich and fries with garlic aioli dipping sauce and then found a nice little spot by the ocean.  There was even a Hawaiian monk seal nearby.

Welcome back Leoda’s

The rest of the day was spent hanging out at the condo.  From relaxing on the lanai to BBQing by the ocean to watching the last episode of this season’s “Sister Wives”, it was a great way to end the day.

This was the reason why our whale watching trip was cancelled
