It’s that time of year again

Regular readers know that I always like to go away for my birthday.  While doing the planning this year, we received a call from our good friend Darren Lee who said that he was hired to do a private show in Victorville, California.  You see … Darren is an Elvis tribute artist that lives and works in Las Vegas.  We did lots of planning and decided to combine seeing his show with some time in San Diego and visiting him and his wife Allison in Las Vegas.

We found a flight from Detroit and decided to go down the night before.  We listened to “Jack” (my GPS) and crossed in Sarnia.  It was actually must less stressful then crossing in Detroit since there was no construction to worry about.  What was really cool is that we drove through Detroit just as the Detroit Red Wings won the Stanley Cup.  We were able to get a deal at the Baymont Inn & Suites which also included the parking ($79 USD).  We go to the hotel around 11:30pm and crashed for the night.
