Michelle and Irene (friends from work) went to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina a couple of years ago and highly recommended it. Since we were only 1-1/2 hours away, we decided to go and check it out.
We have seen ads on TV for the Biltmore Estate so we were expecting to see the house as soon as we drove through the gates. We kept driving and driving through the winding roads to the parking lot and still hadn’t seen the house. Once we finally got to the house, we were awestrucked. The tour took you through all four floors of the house and only touched upon a 1/10th of the 250 rooms. We can’t believe that people actually lived in this house. You would honestly need a map to get around.
We did part of the tour and then had lunch at the Stable Cafe which is housed in the former stalls. We went back to the house and finished the tour. We started heading down to the gardens when the rains came. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to spend as much time as we wanted to.
We decided to drive back the long way, back through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Unfortunately, we didn’t see any bears but we did see awesome scenery again. Once we got back to Pigeon Forge, we picked up dinner from T.G.I. Friday’s and headed back to the hotel. All that fresh air and walking wears me out.
