It’s a mausey day (a foggy wet day)

8:00am the phone rings.  It is Twillingate Adventure Tours letting us know that our Twillingate Spirit Tour has been cancelled due to weather.  Now we would have the entire day to look for icebergs.

The morning was spent exploring around North Twillingate Island. We started with a very very short hike behind the house to check out the view of Mudford Cove. We worked our way up to the top of island to the Long Point Lighthouse. The wind was pretty fierce and not much could be seen because of the fog.

We finished up the morning at Wild Cove Beach where we saw our first icebergs of today. While walking along the beach, we picked up a piece of an iceberg. I was surprised just how clear it was.

We took our host Amy’s recommendation and had a fabulous lunch at Annie’s Restaurant which overlooks Twillingate Harbour. We realized that it was starting to clear up. After checking the weather, we saw that we had a couple of hours where there would be little to no rain. So we decided to head over to South Twillingate Island where we spent the rest of the afternoon exploring many of the coves and small harbors. Once we got back to the house and relaxed for a little bit, we did not want to go back out for dinner. Karen suggested we get take out which we did from Annie’s Restaurant.

While planning this trip, Karen came across the Grand Old Shed Party Show. The interactive show is run by Karren and Gillian, a talented mother and daughter. The duo hosts about eighty people in their actual garage (aka the shed) every Sunday during the summer months.

Before you get settled in your seat, you are asked to choose a hat to wear and given a musical instrument. We got lucky because we each got an ugly stick. It is a traditional Newfoundland musical instrument usually made with a mop handle, bottle caps and is ornately decorated.

The next two hours was filled with lots of music and laughter. There is an intermission where they serve non alcoholic drinks and assorted sweets. By the end of it, everyone at some point participates in the show. Karen and I each were picked to go up to the front. I think mine was the worst since I got chosen to go up to some song about seven old women. I was definitely the youngest one up there. If you are ever in Twillingate, you need to go to the Grand Old Shed Party Show.
