Karen and I offered to babysit Michael and Liam so that Dave and Cathy could go canoeing with the Maui Canoe Club. They left the condo just after 6:00am since they had to be in Kihei by 7:00am. Liam was up because he has been getting at least twelve hours of sleep. The three of us had breakfast and then watched movies until Michael got up around 7:30am. After Michael had breakfast, we all headed down to the pool. Karen and I relaxed at the side while Deanna entertained the boys in the pool. One by one, the various wedding party guests arrived and we got to hear about all of the different plans that people had for today. Once Dave and Cathy came back around noon, we headed upstairs to have lunch on the lanai.
Our plans for the afternoon were to head north to check out the Blowhole and a couple of beaches. It is only about a twenty drive to get to the Blowhole. Ross told us earlier in the day, that we should park at the lot at Mile Marker 38. He also told us that in the parking lot there was a food truck. That piece of information would play a vital role later. it was a beautiful day for a drive and we got to the parking lot pretty quickly. We left the cars and started on a short hike. Karen and I both said that this did not seem familiar but we continued anyways. At some point, Dave went exploring up and down a huge hill and said that the blowhole was further down the road. So we hiked back to the cars and drove down another half mile to another parking lot. But this one was at Mile Marker 38.5 and sure enough there was a food truck there. I wished we had remembered Ross’ information earlier. We walked a short distance and there was the Blowhole. Karen and I did not walk down all the way to the Blowhhole like the rest of the gang did. Because the waters have been so rough the last few days, the Blowhole was spouting pretty good.
Once the gang came back up to the top, we got back in the cars and headed to D.T. Fleming Beach. It was getting late in the afternoon, so we had no trouble getting spots nice and close to the beach. We did not do any swimming here because the water was rough and the sun was beginning to set. We will definitely come back to have a picnic lunch here because the beach is so beautiful.
When we got back to the condo, we started working on summer. I volunteered to BBQ the chicken because there is nothing like BBQing next to the ocean with the sound of crashing waves. After dinner, it was a girls’ night out of shopping at Whalers Village while the boys stayed behind. Everyone is super tired these days that a late night means staying up past 10:00pm.
