Informal night

Since we had to be back on the ship at noon, Karen, Becca and I decided to check out the shops one more time for any last minute gifts.  Not too many stores were open due to the national holiday of Somers Day.  It was very sad making that last trip up the gangway.  Bye, bye Bermuda.  A beautiful place that I will come back and visit again.

One thing that we have not done yet on this trip is have lunch in the main dining room.  It is quite a treat being waited on at lunch as opposed to the buffet, as we sailed out of the harbour.  Today’s lunch selections included Sliced Oranges with Watermelon Salsa, The Master Chef’s Burger and The Chef’s Favourite Grilled Tuna Melt.

After lunch we all gathered on the Lower Promenade Deck to relax in the loungers and watch Bermuda fade into the distance.  One by one people started heading back to their staterooms for an afternoon nap.  On our way, we got sidetracked with the foot and ankle massages that were happening poolside.  Boy did my feet feel real good after that.  Afterwards, Teresa, Becca and Karen went to “the art of towel folding” and learned how to make elephants, dogs, monkeys and lots more.

Each day we always check to see what is being served in the main dining room before deciding what to do for dinner.  When we checked today, we realized it was Surf and Turf but it was Formal Night.  We had a solution to this.  On Holland America, anything that is being served in the main dining room, can be ordered as room service.  Therefore we decided to have Informal Night in our room.  The dress code for our dinner was that you had to have your robe on.  Everyone came to our room and we had a feast.

After dinner, Kris and Becca headed back to their stateroom while Teresa, Marie and Karen went to the casino.  I found myself a quiet spot where I started working on the blog.  It was not long before Karen was back saying that she had lost her money.  The girls stayed in the casino since they still had money while Karen and I headed up to the Sports Deck and found the deck empty of people.  We grabbed a couple of lounges and enjoyed the sunset.

Marie ran into DJ Styles who said that tonight’s “Name That Tune” would be Top 40 from now.  Since none of us are strong in this category, we decided to skip tonight’s game and let other passengers win.  We did instead head over to Mix where the piano player was having “Name That Tune”.  Guess what … Team C.C. won again.  I think tonight’s competition was harder since we had to really listen to the lyrics.  We left there with some nice Holland America souvenirs.

The night ended with the Dessert Extravaganza.  It was held on the three levels in the Atrium.  There were so many desserts.  I think the most popular was the chocolate covered apples and the chocolate fountain.

I’m afraid there aren’t enough pills to help a diabetic get through 3 levels of Dessert Extravaganza!
