Impromptu road trip

On Monday, Karen says that she has no meetings on Friday. Then she says maybe we should take a road trip to visit our friend Darren Lee. He is in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee performing at the Memories Theatre for a few weeks. I thought about for a few seconds and said let’s go.

Pigeon Forge is about a twelve hour drive so we decided to break up the trip into two days of driving. We got on the road at around 5:00pm which was later than we wanted. The drive to Windsor was nothing special and we crossed the Ambassador Bridge just after 8:00pm. Earlier today, Aretha Franklin who is from Detroit passed away. We did see one billboard just after we crossed into Detroit paying their respects.

It has been a very long time since we have driven down I-75. The drive was uneventful and unfortunately for us we did most of the driving in the dark. Finally after six hours, we arrived in Troy, Ohio our stop for the night. But before checking into the Hampton Inn, we had a late night shopping trip at Meijer.
