I wish I could stay here forever

Last day on the cruise … boo hoo.  But the last port of call is Holland America’s private island Half Moon Cay.  Once we finally got moving, we headed up to the back of the ship to enjoy our breakfast.

You have to tender to the island and it was much easier today for Papa since they had a ramp that you can wheel  people on and off instead of actually lifting him like we had to in St. Thomas.  After about a five minute boat ride, we were on the island.  Once again we had  warmth and sunshine like we have had all week.  Most of the pathways are made of stone which makes it easy to get Papa around.

We went over to the Pirate Ship bar where they had a wooden deck that Papa could sit on and actually see the beach.  We got  Papa settled and then we headed down to the water.  It was a bit refreshing but once you got in, it was fine.  We were able to even get Nana into the water.

Soon enough it was lunch time so we made our way over to the dining pavilions where we enjoyed a BBQ lunch … hamburgers, hotdogs, steak, chicken, various salads and fresh fruit.  After lunch Nana went in for one final swim before she and Papa headed back to the ship.  Karen and I stayed behind to work on our tans.  We stayed until the end taking the second to last tender back.

For our final dinner on board, we decided to head back to the Pinnacle Grill.  The food and the service are exceptional in this restaurant.  Tonight’s selections included Broiled Lobster Tail, table side Caesar Salad and Grande Wild Mushroom Ravioli.

Finally tonight they had Name That Tune and Team C.C. came in second place.  We lost the points on the bonus song.  It was “Mickey Mouse Club Theme” and we had “Mickey Mouse Club”.  But everyone got a prize … a deck of Holland America cards.

The night ended with us packing our bags.  I am sorry we are leaving the ship tomorrow but I am really happy we still have a few more days of vacation.
