There is not much on the schedule today since it is a sea day. Therefore we began the day by sleeping in and having room service deliver us breakfast.
We spent the rest of the morning relaxing on one of the upper decks enjoying the beautiful sunshine. We received an invitation from the Captain to attend The Mariner’s Lunch today. This is a lunch that they hold on each cruise and only passengers that have previously sailed with Holland America are invited. It is a lovely lunch and you also receive a gift. Today we got a lovely ceramic tile of our ship.
We dropped Nana and Papa back at their room and headed back out to work on our tans. The rest of the afternoon was spent reading, napping and snacking. It is really going to be hard to go back to work next week. I do not think the bosses will look at me to kindly when I head off for my afternoon nap.
Since we have reservations at the Pinnacle Grill tomorrow, we thought we should have one final dinner in the Rembrandt Main Dining Room. Tonight’s selections included Papaya with a Rainbow of Fruit, Broiled Lobster Tail and Meat Tortellini with Sautéed Spinach. At one point during the meal, the lights went up and all of a sudden music started playing. We were told to start waving our napkins for the Baked Alaska parade. All of the executive chefs and wait staff walked around the entire dining room parading Baked Alaska. What a treat that was to see.
We started our evening festivities by checking out the Karaoke. What a hilarious time that was. I would surely need lots of liquid courage to get up there. Then we headed to the top of the ship to work on the Christmas puzzle. Yes … you heard right … a puzzle. And then we ended the night at the Asian Late Night Buffet.
Tim & I accidentally crashed the Mariner’s lunch on our HAL cruise last year. We didn’t realize the dining room was for a special lunch until we had already ordered…oops! They didn’t ask us for our invite and the people at our table were glad to have the company so it was all good. 🙂
