Hawaii

After months of planning the day has finally arrived.  The big trip to Hawaii.

Nana kindly agreed to drop us off at the airport so that we could save the $100 it would have cost us to park.  We were flying out of Terminal 1 with Air Canada.  We used the self check-in and still had 1-1/2 hours before our flight.

We left Toronto at 11am and arrived in Vancouver at 12:30pm local time.  We were hoping to meet up with Karen’s niece Marie but since we had already cleared customs, there was no way we could leave the airport.  Our flight to Honolulu was not leaving until 4:30pm so we were able to have some dinner and a nap.

We were sitting in the middle 3 seats and luckily for us, there was nobody sitting next to us.  This meant that we were able to stretch out (as much as you can on an airplane).  The flight was 6 hours long but we did get a meal (chicken I think) and drinks were free.

We landed in Honolulu at 7:30pm local time and the temperature had to be between 75°F and 80°F.  Alot of the airport is open so you get the warm breezes and can smell the flowers.

We made our way to Thrifty to pick up our car and headed to The Ilima Hotel.  We have a nice big room with a kitchenette and a view of the canal.  And the best part, the air conditioner has a remote control.

We dropped off our bags and walked over to an ABC Store.  There is an ABC Store on every corner, I kid you not.  It’s like Tim Hortons in Canada.  We picked up some supplies including Hawaiian Buns.  We crashed at 10pm which was 4am back home.
