Greek beauty

I can not believe that we are half way through our cruise.  Today we were docked on the island of Mykonos.  We did not book any tours since we wanted to explore Mykonos Town at our own pace.  We read in the Freestyle Daily that Norwegian was offering a free shuttle bus service to Mykonos Town.  We caught the 10:00am shuttle and in a few short minutes, we were at the old port.  It was about a five minute walk to the heart of the city.

Yesterday was about the history of Greece, today it was about the scenery of Greece.  Mykonos Town is small enough that you can walk everywhere.  The streets are very narrow but not narrow enough to stop a truck from driving through.  The streets are lined with shops, churches and restaurants.  You never know what is around the next corner … A shop selling leather saddles or an awesome little restaurant that has the best gyros I have ever had.

There were two things that we wanted to see today.  Number one is the Mykonos Windmills that sit on top of a hill overlooking the village.  Number Two is Mykonos’ famous pelican, Petros.

We spent a lot of time just wandering the streets taking lots of photos.

It was really warm again today, so around 3:30pm we decided to head back to the ship.  We saw a sign that said you could take the water tax back to the cruise port for two Euros.  It was so nice being on the water with the wind blowing.  The best part of getting back to the ship, is the ice cold facecloth that is handed out to you.

We had dinner tonight in the Windows Dining Room.  Karen had the French Onion Soup, Grilled Lemon & Pepper Chicken and chocolate ice cream.  I had the Garden Spring Lettuce Mix, Spaghetti Bolognese and Pecan Pie a la Mode.  It was a quiet night tonight.  I think two days of heat as done us in.
