Goodbye Rockies

I have a new photography tour idea … pajama wildlife photo tour. I woke up around 7:00am and I went outside to see if there were any elk. I saw one eating in the centre grassy area. I went to get my camera and by the time I was back outside, more elk started appearing. They were everywhere. At one point, we were trapped in our bungalow because there was one elk eating the grass right out front. We think there were between fifteen and twenty of them. After almost an hour, it was time to get dressed and be on our way.

Before leaving the Jasper area, we decided to drive the Maligne Lake Road all the way to the end. We stopped at Medicine Lake and did a small walk around Maligne Lake. This was the last stop of our Canadian Rockies road trip.

Going to miss these drives

We got back to the Yellowhead Highway and started our three and a half hour drive to Edmonton. The scenery was much different than what we have been seeing for the last week. The mountains were gone and replaced with expansive valleys.

Last of the mountains

We arrived at the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Edmonton/West around 5:30pm. Just like last week, this stay is free because of having enough Hilton Honors points. We got take out from Olive Garden and then spent the rest of the evening packing and relaxing. Tomorrow we fly home.
