First post COVID trip in the books

Since our flight home is not leaving until 6:15pm, there was no hurry for us to check out of the hotel. After grabbing some breakfast from downstairs, we packed up the car and headed out.

We stumbled upon a channel on YouTube called Curiousity Incorporated. We watched a series where they cleaned out a hoarded house in Edmonton. They purchased the house for $10,000 but you can not imagine how much money they made back from selling the contents of the house. If you have a chance, go watch it. It was fascinating. Anyways, they have an antiques and collectible store in Edmonton and we wanted to check it out.

We were surprised that the store was just in a regular neighborhood and not in some strip mall. The store was much larger than we thought. It was really quirky and they had lots of neat things.

We have a friend Robin Kelly who is an Elvis Tribute Artist who happens to live in Edmonton. We have known Robin for over twenty years and we thought it would be nice to meet up with him. So we arranged to meet Robin and Leeann at Earls Kitchen + Bar. We had a great leisurely lunch … laughing and reminiscing. All of a sudden it was 3:00pm and we head to get going to the airport.

We stopped to fill up the car at Costco which happened to be less than five minutes from the airport. We had no issues with dropping the car off and it was about a ten minute walk to the Flair check in counter. Our bags got dropped off and we had about one and a half hours before we were to board the plane.  The airport was empty and many of the shops were closed.

The began boarding at 5:45pm and we got settled into 5D and 5F. We purposely booked the seats that way because we thought nobody would pick a middle seat. As the passengers were boarding, Karen moved into the middle seat. All of a sudden, a gentleman comes and sits in the aisle seat. He is the guy that booked the middle seat but he said he would sit on the aisle. Now we were pissed. The flights attendants said that once we were in the air, you could switch seats but you had to ask them. I think this was being done for COVID-19 so that they could keep track of what seat you were actually sitting in. Karen asked the flight attendant if she could switch seats. The flight attendant found an empty row and both Karen and I moved.

Before the gentleman sat beside us

The flight to Kitchener-Waterloo was only three and a half hours and we arrived at 11:50pm. After picking up our bags, we were greeted by Nana, Maddie and a very happy Maui. Twenty minutes later, everybody was home.
