Ottawa is only an hour and a half away from Ivy Lea. Karen has a brother Paul who lives in Nepean which is just outside of Ottawa. When he heard about our trip, he said why don’t we come for a visit.
Teresa, Jon, Marie, Brodie and Scarlett left before us since they wanted to make a stop at Costco in Quebec. We left around 11:30am and we decided to take the scenic route. We stopped in a little town called Westport which has quaint little shops. We walked around a little bit but it was getting hot, so we grabbed some lunch and headed onwards.
We arrived at Paul and Jen’s house around 3:30pm and were greeted by humans and canines. They have two schnauzers Jersey and Cyrus and they were dog sitting Lily. Needless to say, there was lots of tail wagging and sniffing. Every two weeks, Karen does a family zoom call and we see everyone in 2D. It was really nice to see Paul, Jen, Megan and GIllian in 3D.
The rest of the afternoon was spent catching up with everyone. Paul and Jen prepared a fabulous BBQ dinner which we all enjoyed. With it getting dark, it was time to say goodbye and start the drive back to the campground.
