Since there were no major plans for today, a bit of a sleep-in was in order. Once we got moving, we met Becca at The Lido Restaurant for breakfast. I sure am going to miss the selection for breakfast when I get home.
They were giving a talk on disembarkation in The Showroom of the Seas so we all decided to attend. Besides giving us the information that we needed to know, they brought out most of the crew to say goodbye to us, and sing a farewell song. I was getting a bit teary eyed.
After the talk, we went to the Exploration Cafe to fill out our guest surveys and spend our Internet time. Soon it was time for lunch so we went to The Lido Restaurant for our final lunch buffet. Lunch is going to be much different next week. Not as much selection I figure.
Karen and I decided to go to the Behind the Scenes Backstage Tour. It was really interesting hearing how the entertainment is handled on a cruise ship. There is an outside company that hires each of the individuals. This company then assembles the various shows that you see with input from Holland America. We learned that this cast was assembled at the end of January and by the beginning of April, they were onboard performing. Quite an interesting life these performers lead.
The afternoon was spent reading and relaxing but interrupted briefly by the Cupcake Tea in the main dining room and a quick trip to the casino.
Our final dinner was in the Pinnacle Grill. This is the fanciest restaurant on the ship. There is a surcharge for this restaurant but it is so worth it. We spent the next two and a half hours enjoying a wonderful meal. Selections this evening included tableside Ceasar Salad, filet mignon, lobster macaroni and cheese.
Marie and I skipped dessert and headed up to The Crow’s Nest for “Name That Tune”. The others joined us just before the game started. Unfortunately we did not win tonight. What killed us once again was the current stuff on the radio. In total, we won five out of seven nights. A great run for Team C.C.
We went back to the stateroom to pack our bags which have to be left outside the stateroom by 1am. We decided to go and check out the comedian Kevin Jordan in the showroom. This guy was hilarious. He picked on everybody.
I wanted to go to the late night buffet one last time but I was still full from dinner. We need to get to bed early since it is going to be a full day of sight-seeing in New York City and a long drive home.
Is that Karen & Dorothy auditioning on stage to be performers on the next HAL cruise ship? New Career?
