Bonjour Quebec City

Karen’s niece Liz is a member of the Senior Canadian Beach volleyball team.  She and her teammate Heather Bansley are the reigning women’s Canadian champions.  Their goal is to represent Canada at the 2012 Olympics in London.  Luckily for us, the FIVB has one stop this year in Canada and it’s in Quebec City.  Many member from the Maloney Family decided to head down to support Liz.

We decided to get an early start and actually left on Tuesday night and stayed at the Holiday Inn ($104.95 CAD) in Trenton.  We got on the road this morning around 9:00am and it was a pretty easy drive except for Montreal.  It always seems to slow down there.  We got to the Comfort Inn and Suites ($112 CAD) in St. Nicolas around 4:00pm and met up with the Barrie Maloneys (Rob, Gloria and Daniel).  We got settled in and then headed over to the Wal-Mart to do some shopping.  By the time we got back, the Toronto Maloneys (Ross and Susie) had arrived.

We decided to head to Old Quebec for dinner.  We tried to get into Buffet de l’Antiquarie but there wasn’t enough room for all of us.  So we just headed down 1/2 a block and came across Piazzetta.  It was so nice just sitting outside enjoying our dinner in Upper Town.

While walking back to the car, we came across the grain silos of the Quebec Harbor which is the home of The Image Mill.  The Image Mill is the world’s largest project screen measuring over 600 meters wide and 30 meters tall.  This year The Image Mill is showing a 3D movie of the history of Quebec City.  It was a very cool thing to see.
