After two days of walking, it is nice having a day of nothing. Every night, the room stewards deliver the Freestyle Daily which lists all the activities for the next day. Sometimes on sea days, the spa offers a special. We saw that they were offering a package which included six treatments for $109 USD. We called and made an appointment for 10:45am.
Upon entering the Mandara Spa, you are greeted and taken into a very quiet waiting area. They have soothing music, flavored waters and a view of the sea. Our therapists gathered us up and proceeded to take us to the treatment area. We got situated in a couple of comfy chairs, wrapped up in towels and then the pampering began. We started off with the Scalp Massage which was followed up with the Conditioning Hair Treatment. We are off to a great start here. The next area of work was done to the face with the European Mini Facial. Maybe I should have facials when I get home because my face felt really good after it. Then she started the Revitalizing Eye Treatment. She placed some cream around my eyes, covered them with a warm towel and then the best parts of the treatment happened next … massaging of the arms, hand, ankles and feet. I drifted in and out of consciousness during the entire time. It seemed to end quickly when in reality it was about a half an hour. Suddenly the warm towel was removed from my eyes and the final application was done. We floated out of the spa thoroughly relaxed.
It was lunch time so we headed to the far back of the ship and snagged ourselves a couple of loungers overlooking the children’s pool area. We each headed to Raffles Court to pick up something from the buffet. What is nice about the area at the back of the ship, is that it is covered so you are not laying out in the blazing sun. We spent half the afternoon here and then the other half up in the Galaxy of the Stars. This is one of our favourite place to hang out.
Dinner was quite entertaining tonight. We booked Teppanyaki. It is a Japanese restaurant where the chef prepares your meal on the “Teppan” griddle. Since there are only ten seats available around the grill, it is very difficult to get a reservation but we were smart and booked it a few months ago.
The dinner starts with the chef wheeling in his cart will all of the food to be prepared. All of a sudden, knives and spatulas are flying around along with the food. He started first by preparing garlic fried rice, then grilled vegetables and finally everyone’s main course. Karen and I each choose the Seafood which was Lobster and Sea Scallops. The food was outstanding and so flavourful. But the chef was the best part of the entire meal. He kept us entertained with his juggling skills and his jokes.
We thought that maybe we should check out the entertainment in the Stardust Theater. Tonight it was Vocalist David Austen with a tribute to Michael Buble. He was alright but Michael Buble is not my favourite. We did not have many steps today so we did a once around the ship before retiring for the evening. We have an early port day tomorrow.
Love Teppenyaki! Looks delish
