Aloha Maloneys

Today is the day.  The Maloneys are arriving.  But before they get here, there were many things that had to get done.  The first thing I had to do was to see how early I could get into our unit.  The ladies in the office were kind enough to let me drop my big suitcase in the unit but they said I would not be able to get in until closer to noon.  That was fine since I had some running around to do in Kahului.

I got to the Maui Swap Meet around 9:45am and it was really busy.  And it was really hot.  That is a tip … try to go as early as possible to avoid the crowds and heat.  I just needed some fresh flowers so I was not here for too long.  Next up was Costco.  What surprised me here is that it was not busy.  Usually on Saturdays, there are tons of people but I was able to get through the store rather quickly.  Once I got back to Lahaina, I stopped in at Safeway to get the last few items on my grocery list.

By the time I got back to the Noelani, Unit 410 was ready.  This is our home for the next two weeks.  It took about ten trips up and down the two flights of stairs to get everything in.  This took much longer than I thought and by the time I was done, it was time for me to leave to go to the Kahului Airport.

First to arrive was Karen’s brother Ross and his wife Susie.  They are the parents of the groom Greg.  They arrived around 4:00pm and were surprised as to how warm it was.  It did not take too long to get the car and then we were on our way to Lahaina.  Before we got to the condo, we stopped at Safeway to get starter provisions and The Fish Market to get dinner.

I got some texts from Darren and Allison asking me if I wanted to go for dinner at the Hula Grill.  I had time before the next batch of Maloneys were to arrive so I decided to join them.  Hula Grill is at The Whalers Village and the best part is that the restaurant is basically on the beach.  Many of the tables are in the sand and that is where we sat.  Dinner was awesome but unfortunately we ran out of time to have their world famous Hula Pie.  I had to leave for the airport and Darren had to leave to do a gig.

First to arrive was Deanna and shortly there after, Karen and the Paisley Maloneys arrived.  Everyone was so excited to finally be here  in Hawaii.  We sent Dave and Cathy to get the rental car while I caught up with Karen and Deanna.  We got the cars all packed up and started our trip back to Lahaina.  While we were driving, we were telling Deanna about all the fabulous views that she was not seeing because it was dark.

Luckily we had lots of people to help get everything up to the condo.  After getting everyone settled, it was well after midnight and time for bed.
