A Saturday tradition

Whenever we are on Maui and it is Saturday, we always go to the Maui Swap Meet. It has been running since 1981 in the parking lot of the University of Hawaii Maui College. There are over one hundred vendors selling everything from handmade jewelry, local artwork, tropical plants, souvenirs and island clothing. There are also vendors selling fresh tropical fruits, baked goods, and local snacks. The trick is to get there early because it gets really hot once the sun is up.

Nana and I stuck together wandering the rows of vendors while Darlene and Karen went their own way. Nana ended up buying a few things as a reminder of her trip.

From there, we drove across the street to the Queen Ka’ahumanu Center. I had booked myself a foot massage at Bird of Paradise Spa while the others headed to the Cat Cafe. All I can say is that it was pure bliss during the entire forty-five minute massage.

I finished before the others so I wandered over to the Cat Cafe. I peeked in and saw that everyone was having a great time playing with all of the kittens. I was very surprised that Darlene left empty handed.

We headed back to Lahaina and picked up lunch from Fork and Salad which we ate back at the condo. The rest of the afternoon was spent lounging around. Before supper, we went down to the beach to do a turtle check.

For supper, we went to the Honoapiilani Food Truck Park. What is nice about this place is that there is a variety of dining options from Mexican to Thai to local cuisine. Everyone can find something to eat.

We finished up our day with a soak in the hot tub and then more chilling.
