Last night was the first night on this vacation where we went to bed before midnight. Those couple of extra hours makes all the difference in the world. Once we finally got moving, we enjoyed breakfast out on the lanai while coming up with a plan for the day … shopping, beach and “Burn’n Love”.
We got to downtown Lahaina around 11:00am and we were able to find a parking spot. Our shopping excursion was somewhat successful so we decided to reward ourselves with a Dole Whip. While we were enjoying it, we noticed that there were some ladies across the street making leis in front of the Baldwin Home Museum so we decided to take a look. The ladies were making leis to raise money for the senior class of Lahaina High School. The leis were so beautiful that we could not resist and picked up a couple of them.
By now is was just after lunch time, so we headed back to the condo. We did make a couple of stops along the way. The first was at Times Supermarket to pick up some steaks and the second was The Fish Market Maui to pick up rice and macaroni salad to go with the steaks. Since we had leftover pizza from last night, we decided to have that while watching the turtles frolick in the water. Now according to the plan, we were going to spend the afternoon at a beach. But plans are made to be changed, so we instead grabbed our books and hung out on the lanai.
After an hour or so of relaxing, we thought we better go and see a beach before leaving Maui. So we got in the car and drove north. We stopped in at Kapalua Bay, Honoloa Bay, D.T. Fleming Beach and Napili Bay. Most of the beaches had surfers because the waves were crashing. I have said this to many people, you can visit a different beach every day of your vacation when you visit Maui.
We got back to the condo around 5:30pm and then went downstairs to BBQ. People think it is crazy to cook while on vacation. I do not cook on every trip, but when will I have a chance to BBQ next to the ocean. Besides the view from our lanai is just as good and cheaper than any restaurant on the water. We got lucky and had another beautiful sunset.
Tonight was our last chance to see “Burn‘n Love” and once again Darren was able to give us tickets. Thanks Darren .. we love you. It was another great show and I never tire of seeing it. We ended the night back in Darren’s dressing room walking down memory lane.
