A nice way to end the week

You know what is really sad, when you look in your closet and realize that you only have one more shirt to wear.  Today is our last day on Maui and there were a few more things we needed to do.

First up was to have breakfast at Aloha Mixed Plate.  Everytime we have eaten here, it has been for lunch and dinner.  But when Steve and Linda were in Maui last time, they said how good the breakfast was at AMP.  We thought we better try it out.  The restaurant has undergone renovations and reviews on TripAdvisor have not been so good.  We can say that we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast here.  Karen had the Katsu French Toast while I went with the Fruit Plate.  It is a bit more expensive that it has been but I guess the prices needed to be increased to help pay for the renovations.

The second thing we needed to was to do some final shopping down on Front Street in Lahaina.  We got lucky and found three hour street parking.  We did not need that much time to revisit some stores from earlier in the week.  By the time we were done, it was lunch time.  We stopped at Honokowai Okazuya & Deli and picked up some delicious Panko Crusted Mahi Mahi sandwiches which we enjoyed on the lanai.

We were hoping that the weather was going to get better this afternoon so that we could go to the beach.  All morning it had been cloudy and dreary.  Unfortunately the sun never came out so we decided to forgo the beach.  I think this is the first time we have been to Maui and not been swimming at the beach.  Oh well.  Instead we relaxed on the lanai and went down to see the turtles one last time.  I sure hope the turtles are here when we come back.

Kihei 4th Fridays is like a street party that is held at the Azeka Shopping Center Mauka in Kihei.  Besides the free entertainment, there are vendors selling all sorts of different things and many food trucks.  Lucky for us, Darren and the entire “Burn’n Love” cast were going to perform an one hour show.  We got there around 5:30pm and met up with Darren.  We walked around a bit before grabbing some really good food from a couple of the food trucks.  Then it was time for the show.  It was just like the good old days when Darren would come to Ontario and perform.  The show was a mini version of “Burn’n Love” show along with a few surprises.  The crowd was huge and really liked it.  I know that based on the number of people that wanted to get their picture taken with Darren.  We really enjoyed ourselves and I think Darren did as well.  We hung around for a little bit afterwards before heading back to Lahaina to begin the task of packing.
