Because we had an early day yesterday, the grown ups decided that sleeping in was in order. One by one, we each got up and headed out to the pool. We were spoiled today by Cathy and Liam who made us pancakes and bacon for breakfast. We had a visit from Milko the person we rented the house from. He came by to see how things were and we told him everything was great. He also gave us some great information about things to do on Marco Island. So we took his advice and decided to explore Tigertail Beach.
Nothing on Marco Island is too far away so it only took us about ten minutes to get there. To actually get to the beach, you have to cross over the dunes using one of the five boardwalks. This part of the beach is called Tigertail Lagoon. If you look across the lagoon, you will see Sand Dollar Spit which is only accessible by wading across the lagoon. Once you get over, you see the Gulf of Mexico. Dave, Cathy and the boys walked over and were having such a great time, they sent Dave back to get us. Once we crossed over the lagoon, it was a short walk to a beautiful powdery white sand beach. There were lots and lots of shells and we were surprised how warm the water was. We spent the rest of the afternoon trying to collecting shells, swimming and just relaxing.
The sun was starting to drop in the sky and we thought that was a good time for us to head back. While crossing the lagoon, we spotted a baby painted turtle that was trying to get out of the water and back to the mangroves. On our way back to the house, Karen and I picked up dinner from Michelbob’s Ribs which we enjoyed poolside.
