Today is my birthday and because of that, I decided that we should sleep in. After we got going, we decided to visit a couple of ocean side towns. Our first stop was White Rock. The first thing we noticed was that it was not hard to find a parking spot. That was because of the weather. That did not stop the school kids who seemed to be on a class trip. We walked to the end of the pier and back. By now, it was time for lunch so we had fish and chips at Moby Dick’s.
We left White Rock and headed to the Steveston Village. We walked down to the dock and came across Fisherman Joe’s who was selling halibut right off the boat. We saw a lady buy two ten pound halibuts for $190. The fishing was selling for $9/pound with the head on or $10/pound with the head off.
On our way back to the hotel, we came upon the International Buddhist Temple and decided to stop in. What made us stop was how beautiful the temple looked from the road. The grounds were the temple was was very beautiful and peaceful. We even saw people chanting in the temple.
We went back to the hotel and picked up the leftover Maggiano’s Little Italy along with salad and breadsticks from Olive Garden and went over to Darren and Allison’s for my birthday dinner. Instead of a birthday cake, we went with birthday cupcakes from Frosting Cupcakery. Boy were they yummy. We said our goodbyes to Darren, Allison, Shayla and Sienna and headed back to the hotel to pack up. The next part of our vacation starts tomorrow.
Special thanks to Darren and Allison and extra special thanks goes to Karen. Thanks for giving me a birthday to remember.
