Vacation … Part 3

Today is the start of the last part of our vacation.  We are on our way back to Calgary.  We got everything packed up in the car and were on the road by 9:00am.  It was a gorgeous sunny day and we took full advantage of it.  We made a point of stopping often to take pictures of the beautiful scenery.

We got to our stop for tonight the Heather Mountain Lodge ($139 CAD) at 7:00pm and that included the one hour that we lost due to the time zone change.  What a beautiful place this is.  We got checked in and then took a quick stroll around the grounds before going to the dining room for dinner.

Tonight’s dinner had to be the best meal I’ve had in my life. We started with radish and snow pea salad which was followed by a strawberry and cranberry slushy served in a shot glass.  This was to cleanse the palate.  The main course was a quarter BBQ rotisserie chicken served with baby roasted potatoes, maple smoked baked beans and nightly vegetables.  Dessert was the Heather Mountain cheesecake.  The presentation was outstanding and it tasted delicious.  The chef has a garden on the property where he grows the herbs and edible flowers that are used in the various dishes.

It was a choice between the hot tub or the campfire and the campfire won.  The have a firepit on the property which anyone can enjoy.  Karen and I were the only ones out tonight.  It was still light out at 10:30pm but we decided that we should call it a night.
