Today we said our goodbyes to the Canmore / Banff / Lake Louise area. The next couple of days we are going to be spending exploring the Jasper area. The drive to Jasper is done on the Icefield Parkway which is a 232 km stretch of highway that runs through Banff and Jasper National Parks. Along the route you will see soaring mountains, waterfalls, sweeping valleys and many rivers and lakes.
If you drive straight through from Canmore to Jasper, it will take you three and a half hours. We left at 10:00am and arrived in Jasper at 6:30pm. The following is a list of the highlights of our eight and a half hour drive:
Lunch at Mosquito Creek Campground which is next to the the Bow River
Crowfoot Glacier
Bow Lake
Waterfowl Lake
Weeping Wall
Big Bend
Bridal Veil Falls
Hiking to almost the toe of the Athabasca Glacier and seeing how far the glacier has receded
Tangle Creek Falls
