We are very sad today. It’s our last day on the ship. We decided to change things up and have breakfast in the Vista dining room since we hadn’t done that yet. After breakfast, Karen and Nana went to the Vista Lounge to listen to the talk about disembarkation while Papa and I hit the casino one last time. We both walked out with no money. Papa was tired so he went back to the room while Karen, Nana and I roamed the ship taking pictures. For lunch today, they were having a salmon bake which Karen and Nana enjoyed. I still hadn’t eaten at the Terrace Grill so I thought I better do that.
We had signed up for the “On Deck For the Cure” walk today. It is a 5K non-competitive walk around the ship’s deck and the money raised goes to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundtain. Holland America has raised $2,000,000 so far. The 5K works out to be 9 laps around the ship. Now I know what you are thinking … me … walking 5K. Well I have to say that I did it but with alot of grumbling. Around lap 5, I could feel the burn … whatever that means. The walk was basically over but Karen and I still had three more laps to go. All of a sudden behind us comes a gentleman who ended up walking the three laps with us. We learned that he was a cancer survivor (brain cancer) and he said that he wasn’t leaving any teammates behind. The conversation with him made those last three laps go by quickly. After the walk, we picked up Nana and Papa and headed up to the Lido pool to enjoy the late afternoon scenery.
We decided to splurge tonight and eat dinner at The Pinnacle Grill. This is the high end restaurant on the ship where there is a $20 cover charge/person. I would have to say that that was probably the best meal that I ever had. We had a table right by the window where we spent the next 2-1/2 hours. We had lobster bisque, table side ceasar salad, broiled lobster tails and filet mignon. Karen and Nana each had a baked potatoe that was the size of their hands. Dessert was to die for, and we all left completely stuffed.
We went back to the room and grabbed our bathing suits and hit the hot tub. We were the only people at the Lido pool. It was a welcome relief to my tired and aching body. I went up to the Exploration cafe to do one last posting of the blog, while Nana & Karen checked out the entertainment in the Vista Lounge. Right after this, it’s back downstairs to pack up our bags. They are picking them up at 1am. I hate the packing
up.
Yup, the packing part sucks. 🙁
Looks like you had a great vacation though Dorothy!
