Ukee

Since we have been exploring Tofino and the surrounding area, we decided that today we would head to Ucluelet or as the locals call it, Ukee. On our way, we stopped at various beaches like Long Beach Incinerator and Wickaninnish Beach. Just like on Maui, you can explore a different beach every day.

Once we got into Ucluelet, we first had lunch at the Cedar Grill. Then it was off to the Ucluelet Aquarium. It is Canada’s first catch and release aquarium. All specimens are collected from the nearby Pacific Ocean and then released in the fall. The aquarium is very small but they do have quite a few exhibits. Also the staff are very knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions.

We finished up our visit to Ucluelet at the Amphitrite Lighthouse which is part of the Lighthouse Loop on the Wild Pacific Trail. We did not have time to do the loop since we wanted to be back to watch the Raptors. When we come back again to the island, we will make sure to do the entire trail.

We got back to the resort, made dinner and got settled in front of the TV to watch Game 6 of the NBA Finals.  In between the quarters, we would run to the beach to catch the sunset.  What an exciting game right up until the last second.  Congratulations to Toronto Raptors, 2019 NBA Champions.
