– Halifax was fun
– ocean air is good
This morning was extra special for me today. Karen gifted me a spa treatment (Grounding Foot Ritual) at Oceanstone Seaside Resort & Spa which happened to be one minute from the cottage. I arrived just before 10:00am and was introduced to my spa therapist Jamie who led me to the Driftwood Treatment building.

From their website, here is a description of what I experienced:
“Recharging circulation of the lower limbs and refining your skin; first, you will enjoy a body polish from the knees down. After which your legs are wrapped in a mask of warmed Atlantic seaweed leaves to detoxify, increase circulation and nourish tired feet and legs while a soothing scalp massage is provided. Concluding your ritual with a deeply relaxing massage of the lower legs and feet.”
I made sure to enjoy every moment of that hour and when I left, my legs and feet felt like a million dollars. I think this is something that I could get used to.
When I got back to the cottage, I found Karen and Kai relaxing on the deck. We decided to have lunch from Shaw’s Landing. The restaurant is named after Ian Shaw who originally came to Nova Scotia after tragically losing in daughter when Swissair Flight 111 went down off the coast of Peggy’s Cove in 1998. He stayed in the community for many years running the restaurant before retiring and selling it.

It was a beautiful day so we decided to take advantage of it and head to the Halifax Waterfront for the afternoon. When we got there, it was 25 degrees Celsius and sunny. We spent the next hour or so walking around the scenic boardwalk which stretches along the edge of downtown Halifax.

On the way back to the cottage, we stopped at the Swissair Flight 111 memorial. It honours the victims and serves as a solemn reminder of the tragedy. I have to say the view down the coast to the lighthouse is stunning.

We ended our day with supper from Cafe l’Acadie and one more Nova Scotian sunset.
