Reindeer run

Our last day here and the rain decided to hang around from yesterday.  We had done everything on our list so we just decided to relax at the house for the morning.  Since it is our last day, we need to clean out the fridge.  Therefore, we finished off our leftovers from The Cheesecake Factory for lunch.

After lunch, we headed back to Caxambas Park so that Dave could get some fishing in.  There were a couple of fisherman who told us about the very big groupers that hang out around the dock.  And sure enough, they pointed one out to us.  Besides a whale or dolphin, this is the biggest fish that I have ever seen in my life.  They also told us that those grouper will eat small children.  We made sure to keep Michael and Liam close to us.  The fishing was good because both Dave and Michael caught something.

Earlier in the week, we spotted a sign at the YMCA hat said there was going to be a Reindeer Run today for ages 3 to 5.  The run was to originally be held outside but they had to move it into the gym because of the rain.  Once we got into the gym, the boys each got a t-shirt, race number and jingle bells that they attached to their shoes.  There were about fifteen kids in total.  Before the run began, the kids all gathered in the middle and did some pre-run warm ups.  They divided the run into three heats …  three year olds, four year olds and lastly the five year olds who had to run around the gym twice.  Both boys ran super fast and the cutest part was hearing the jingle bells as they ran.

When all the running was all done, the kids got to do some crafts.  They decorated paper ornaments using crayons and stickers and they also got to make a snowman or reindeer using bananas, strawberries, pretzels, marshmallows and chocolate chips.  The Y did such a great job that both the kids and adults had a good time.

We enjoyed our last dinner in Florida poolside with take out from Su’s Garden Chinese Restaurant.  And we finished up our day with a late night swim and the movie “Mr. Peabody & Sherman”.
