Recharging the batteries

I love sea days.  It was really nice having only one thing to do today and that was to relax.  Once we finally got moving at around 8:30a, Karen, Nana and I grabbed breakfast from the buffet and headed to La Cucina which is the Italian restaurant.  It does not serve breakfast but some mornings it is open for additional seating which is away from the crowds of the buffet.  It is super quiet and you have an awesome view from the front of the ship.

After breakfast, Nana and I headed to the shops to check out the two items for $25 sale.  The only thing that Nana did manage to buy was a Norwegian Cruise Line magnet to add to her collection.  It was then back to the cabin for a rest.  We wanted to do something different for lunch so Karen, Darlene, Marie, Nana and myself went to the Taste Dining Room where we had a leisurely lunch.

Nana went back to the cabin to hang out on the balcony for the afternoon while Karen, Darlene and I went to the Sundeck.  It is one of the adults only area on the ship.  There were lots of loungers available since it is not a well known part of the ship.  The rest of the afternoon was spent soaking up the sun.  When we got back to the cabins, Karen and Marie’s neighbour showed us how we was able to open the door between his and their balconies.  He then proceeded to open the door between our cabin and Karen and Marie’s cabin.  This is what we wanted all along, one huge balcony.

With us having only one sea day, Karen, Darlene, Nana and I decided we would treat ourselves for dinner tonight and booked Teppenyaki.  This is a Japanese restaurant where you sit in front of a grill while the chef prepares your food in front of you.  Since it is a specialty restaurant, the cost per person was $74 USD.  We always try to do this on every cruise since it is so entertaining and delicious.

The four of us were seated right in front of our chef Marlon who happens to work the omelet station in the buffet.  While the miso soup and seaweed salad were being served, Marlon started off by making the garlic fried rice.  More butter and more garlic please Marlon.  I always tell myself not to eat too much of it but it is just so hard to stop.

The next thing on the menu was the stir fried vegetables and finally the meat course.  I went with chicken and scallops and everyone else had steak and chicken.  Marlon kept us entertained with many corny jokes and lots of singing which many times resulted in a sing-a-long.  A great time was had by all.

We ended our night out on the balconies discussing what everyone had planned for tomorrow in Naples.
