“quiet” day

When planning the trip, we decided that we should have a “quiet” day today after two big driving days.  We started the day by sleeping in, grabbing breakfast from downstairs and then back to bed for more relaxing.  Everyone except for Dave headed over to The Shops of Tanforan where we checked out the Target, Barnes & Noble and a few other stores.

We were trying to figure out what to do for lunch and we stumbled across a restaurant called Hana Hawaiian Barbeque.  We walked in and the smell reminded me of Aloha Mixed Plate on Maui.  We took our lunch back to the hotel which we enjoyed at Dave and Cathy’s.

This was so good and reminded me of Maui

How did Karen and I spend our “quiet” afternoon.  We started by relaxing by the pool.  It was a bit too chilly to go into the water but nice to sit out in the sunshine.  Then it was off to San Francisco to check out the Peak Design flagship store.  Peak Design is a company that makes well thought out bags for photography and travel.  I had a few questions about my new Travel Backpack 30L which they were glad to answer.  I ended up buying a couple of their straps.

We left Peak Design and then headed over to The Painted Ladies which are a row of colourful Victorian houses used in the opening credits of “Full House”.  What I did not realize is that the Tanner House that they used in the opening credits was not one of The Painted Ladies.  It is actually on a different street which I am sure we will visit later in the trip.  We finished up our afternoon in Haight-Ashbury checking out a few of the shops.

The Paisley Maloneys spent their afternoon at the Braille Skateboarding Head Quarters.  Braille Skateboarding is the largest skateboarding channel on YouTube with over 5 million subscribers.  The boys were lucky enough to have a one hour private lesson with Robby Hargreaves.  They had such a great time and learned a lot.

We met up for dinner at O’Sole Mio.  This is a restaurant that Karen’s brother Rob and his wife Gloria recommended.  When a person of Italian descent (Gloria) recommends an Italian restaurant, you go.  The food was awesome and it was really nice not having to eat dinner in the car like we have been the last two days.

you can not go wrong with Spaghetti with meat sauce

We ended the evening at Dave and Cathy’s watching some of the YouTube videos of our Alaskan holiday from four years ago.
