Miles of smiles

The boys and I were up kind of late watching a movie last night.  Once Karen and I started getting ready and making breakfast, Michael and Liam eventually got up.  Michael went fishing with Dave and Cathy, while Liam had breakfast with us.  After we finished eating, I dropped Liam back to his RV and we got the RV packed up.  We still had some time before we were leaving, so Karen and I went for a walk down to the lake.

We left Paxson Lake BLM Campground at around noon headed for Valdez, 175 miles away.  An hour into the trip, we stopped in Glenallen to gas up the RVs and make a quick sandwich before getting back on the road.  When we were in Alaska the last time, we did not go down this part of the Richardson Highway so this was all new to us.  Because it was such a beautiful sunny day, the scenery was even more stunning.  We saw Worthington Glacier, Thompson Pass and Bridal Veil Falls.

We pulled into Bayside RV Park ($52 USD / night) where we booked bayside sites (sites 15, 17 and 19).  We have full hookups here including cable TV.  Since we have been RVing for almost two weeks now, setting up now is much quicker than when we started this trip.  Because we are on the tail end of our trip, we are all trying to clean out our fridges.  Therefore dinner tonight was all of us combining different things from our fridges … BBQ chicken, potatoes and various salads.

After dinner, we walked over to the Safeway to pick up a couple of things that we need for the next few days.  On the way back to the campground, we stopped and got ice cream near the harbor.  We ended the evening checking out the community fire pit before retiring for the evening.
