For the past three years, Karen’s nephew Dave and his fiance Cathy host Davestock at their farmhouse in Paisley, Ontario. It’s a chance for everyone to get together and have a great time. There is always lots of laughing and lots of eating.
We were sitting around waiting for dinner when all of a sudden, Cathy comes out wearing a “Bride To Be” tiara and veil. We all thought it was kinda odd. Jokingly someone asked her when she was getting married and she said at sunset and then walked away. We still did not believe her. Then we saw Karen’s niece Marie (Dave’s sister) start hauling out vases and flowers from her car and then we knew there was a wedding. It was a complete surprise to everyone.
We had about an hour before the ceremony to get the wedding site decorated. Dave and Cathy decided to get married in front of their barn overlooking the corn fields. People grabbed chalk and started writing well wishes on the side of the barn. Others decorated the pathway with flowers and candles. It came together very quickly and looked stunning.
Soon it was sunset and the ceremony began. Dave and Cathy walked down the aisle with their two sons Michael (2 years old) and Liam (7 months old). Their 13 year old Golden Retriever Maggie shortly followed them and took her place. It was a beautiful ceremony, short and sweet. When it came time to exchange rings, Michael and Liam each had one in their cargo pants pocket. It was so cute. Just as the justice of the peace pronounced them husband and wife, Cathy got stung in the bottom of her foot by a bee. Dave then had to carry her down the aisle. A quick signing of the paperwork followed just in front of the cornfields.
Davestock continued after the wedding and the night ended with the couple spending their first night as husband and wife in a tent in their backyard.
Congratulations Dave and Cathy!!!
