Hello Cleveland

We woke up to another gorgeous warm fall day here in Cleveland.  We were supposed to hit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame yesterday but since the Cleveland Browns were playing at home and their stadium was right next door to the museum, we decided it might be smarter to go today.

We arrived around 11am and then spent the next 4-1/2 hours exploring the museum.  There are so many things to see at the museum that you could easily spend the entire day there.  All aspects of rock and roll music are covered at the museum from the early influences of rock to present day artists.  There are guitars, clothes, lyrics and even automobiles all donated to the museum.  We didn’t see everything but what we did see was very cool.

The top two floors of the hall were dedicated to a Bruce Springsteen exhibit called “From Asbury Park to the Promised Land:  The Life and Music of Bruce Springsteen”.  There was photos, guitars, clothes, posters but the most fascinating part for me were his notebooks.  It was so cool to see in Bruce’s own handwriting the lyrics to his songs.  Every Bruce fan should make the trip to Cleveland to see this exhibit.

It was getting kind late in the afternoon so we stopped by the gift shop to pick up a few things before heading outside to tour Johnny Cash’s tour bus.  The bus was used for the last twenty years of Johnny’s life.  The bus has separate compartments for Johnny, his wife June Carter and their son John Carter Cash.  You could almost feel their presence on the bus.

We left Cleveland via the I-90 and had an easy drive to Buffalo.  We did manage to stop and pick up dinner from the Cracker Barrel.  We got to the Peace Bridge in Fort Erie and it was kind of busy.  Luckily for us, the traffic was moving enough on the bridge that we could make our way to the Nexus lane and bypass all of the waiting.
